11/27/2013 1 Comment Redefining Rayne by Amy MullenWill her most painful secret be the key to her greatest joy? Rayne de Latham, cousin to King William Rufus, should be enjoying a life of privilege. Instead, she has only known misery. Her disastrous first marriage yielded nothing but pain, suffering, and three stillborn children. She believes she is cursed and is certain another pregnancy will end in another tragedy. When the king seeks to get rid of her by sending her to marry one of his knights, she will do just about anything to get out of her betrothal. Widower Andre de Grelle is father to two small boys who came to him by marriage. When his first wife jumps off the castle walls in a fit of madness, he keeps the boys he has grown to love as his own. When king sends him a new bride, the lovely but troubled Rayne, he vows to have more patience with her than he had with his first wife. Once Rayne arrives at Cuxton Castle, Andre realizes there is much more to her than meets the eye. She does everything she can to force him to send her away, but nothing works. Frustration grows as Andre discovers his betrothed is hiding something from him about her past, something so devastating she cannot speak the words out loud. In the midst of a siege on nearby Pevensey Castle, a truth comes to light that changes everything. As the real story of Rayne’s past emerges, lives change forever. Will love be enough, or will it be easier to walk away? Excerpt:Andre moved closer to her. His body was mere inches from hers as he lifted his other hand and slowly tilted her face toward his. Cupping her cheek, he wiped away a tear with his thumb. "You have no idea how fascinating you are," he whispered. Involuntarily, her eyes closed and she tilted her chin up. She felt his soft lips brush hers and she started to tremble. The short, light touch of his mouth stirred something in her. A young maiden's dream of love, of being loved and cherished, welled up from a place where she had hidden her hopes a long time ago. She returned his kiss, but just for a moment. Her eyes flew open, and she pulled her head back. This was all wrong. This was not how this was supposed to happen. In a rush to break the spell, she stammered out the first thing she thought of, "Someone will see us! Odo may come." An expression of disbelief washed across his features and was replaced by irritation. "Odo? What has he to do with this? He is my guest but hardly has a say in what I do with you." "You…" she stumbled over her words, "you… he is your…" Andre stood and stepped away from her. He stared down at her, but she could no longer read his face. "Do your affections lie with Odo, Lady Rayne?" Amy Mullen is a freelance writer and romance author living in Corning, NY, with her husband, Patrick, her two children, and an orange cat named Steve. 11/18/2013 0 Comments Marry Me by Kristin WallaceMarry Me A lifetime of watching her parents treat relationships like the flavor of the month has taught Julia Richardson that love is for fools and faith is for naïve. She’s always put her faith in her career. Then her life is thrown into a tailspin. First, she loses her job. Then she gets a panicked call and learns her former stepsister is having a crisis with her pregnancy. The crisis has Julia returning to the small Southern town – and the family – she’s been avoiding for years. Before she knows it, Julia’s been pressed into service running her stepsister’s wedding planning business. Julia doesn’t know a garter from a garden hose, but now she must navigate couples along the bumpy path down the aisle. In the midst of the chaos, Julia makes the most unexpected discovery of all…Love, with Seth Graham, the widowed local minister! Julia’s been running from love and everything spiritual for most of her life. It’s not until she finds the courage to stop running and learns to believe in the power of love, faith and family that she finds her own “I Do” moment. An Interview with Julia Richardson and Seth Graham: Today, we’re talking to Julia Richardson and Seth Graham, the two leads from MARRY ME, a new inspirational romance from author Kristin Wallace. Julia and Seth had to go through the ringer to be together and their story is quite the funny ride. Me: So Julia and Seth, tell us about when your impression of each other when you met? Seth: You mean the first time we met? We were teenagers then. Julia: I’d come to live in Covington Falls. My father was married to Grace. She was my second stepmother. Me: Your second stepmother? How many have you had? Julia: Four, five…I don’t know. (she’s shrugs) I’ve lost count. The last one was younger than me. My mom’s on husband number three. Seth: Which might be why you’re a little cynical. (This comment is laced in sarcasm.) Julia: As opposed to someone like you, who looks through the world through rose-colored glasses? Me: Julia and Seth…you two met as teenagers when Julia came to live with her father and Grace. Were you guys friends back then? Julia: We didn’t know each other that well. His parents lived across the street, and Seth was just the shy kid. (Julia turns a teasing gaze on Seth) But you had a crush on me, right? Seth: What can I say? I’ve always had good taste in women. She was hot. Still is. Julia: Aww…Are my cheeks flaming? Seth has definitely improved with age. If more ministers looked like him I think churches would be packed out everywhere. Seth: Now I’m blushing. Me: So Julia what was your impression of Covington Falls then? Did you like the town? Julia: It’s Mayberry and Norman Rockwell and white picket fences all wrapped up in a Southern package. Like a smaller, daintier cousin of Savannah. It’s hard to believe there are places like Covington Falls anymore. It’s a Southern Belle Brigadoon. Me: Did you feel like an outsider then and now? Julia: Yeah, but I don’t know if that was more about me. Look, my dad was married to Grace, and then he left like he always did. I’m his daughter. How could I not be a reminder of that? But the people who really mattered didn’t care about all that. They loved me anyway. Me: Seth, your father is now married to Grace, Julia’s former stepmother? Is that right? Julia: (shaking her head) We’re like an episode of the Jerry Springer show. Seth: (laughing at her dismayed expression) It’s not that bad. It was years before my dad and Grace got together. My mom died when I was college and I saw what he went through. After losing my own wife I understand even more. My dad and Grace are very happy and that’s all that matters. Me: So when you met again, were the sparks instant? Julia: He yelled at me. Seth: I didn’t yell. Julia: Yes, you did. Seth: I was angry because you stayed away for fifteen years. Grace and Sarah missed you and you never came back to see them. Julia: I thought I had to. They weren’t my family. Seth: They loved you like family. Julia: I didn’t know that. I had to figure out that family is the people you love, not necessarily the family you’re born into. Seth: She’s a hard case. I had to do some major persuasion to get her to believe we could make it. Me: Do you think you have made a believer of Julia? Seth: I plan spend the rest of my life doing just that. Me: Well readers…that is only part of the story. You can read about Julia and Seth’s journey in Marry Me, out now from author Kristin Wallace. You’ll meet this lovely couple as well as the rest of the characters that inhabit Covington Falls.
